What We Test
Three things get tested before a tutorial can be published:
- Every keystroke sequence. Each numbered step is pressed in order and the on-screen result is compared with what the page promises.
- Every worked example. The maths is solved by hand first, so we know the correct answer before we test whether the calculator produces it.
- Every error fix. Each "common error" section is reproduced on purpose, so we can confirm the fix we recommend actually works.
The Method, Step by Step
This is the order we work in. It is the same for a 400-word answer and a 3,000-word tutorial.
- Solve it by hand. We work the example on paper and write down the answer we expect.
- Run the sequence. We press the steps in order on the browser calculator on this site, exactly as they will be printed.
- Compare against the guidebook. We open the official Texas Instruments guidebook we host at /documentation/pdf/ and check the menu path and key names match the printed legends.
- Capture the screen. Screenshots come from the calculator on this site, so what you see in the guide is what you will see on your screen.
- Repeat after changes. Any change to the calculator engine triggers a re-run of the tutorials that touch it.
If a step fails on the second run, the page does not publish. It goes back to the author with the exact step that broke.
What We Cannot Test
We would rather tell you the limits than pad this page. Two honest points:
- We test in the browser calculator, not on Texas Instruments hardware. Our checks cover the button sequence and the on-screen output. We do not claim to test against a physical device, and we do not publish a claim that would need one.
- Our calculator is a browser recreation. It reproduces the TI-84 Plus CE keypad, menus and screen behaviour. It is not Texas Instruments hardware, it is not their firmware, and it is not affiliated with them.
Because of that, we do not write guides about things a browser cannot reproduce: battery life, USB link cables, file transfers over TI Connect, or operating-system updates. If we cannot test it here, we leave it out.
An exam that requires a physical calculator still requires a physical calculator. Use this site to practise the method at home, then bring the real device on test day.

How Often We Re-Test
Found a Step That Fails?
Tell us the page, the step number and what happened on your screen. Send it to corrections@t84calculator.com.
We reply within five working days. If you are right, the page is fixed and the change is written into the corrections log with your report date. If we cannot reproduce it, we tell you that too and ask for your browser and device.
